Employers must check that a job applicant is allowed to work for you in the UK before you employ them. You can either check the applicant's original documents or check the applicant's right to work online if they have provided you with a share code.
Employing EU, EEA, and Swiss Citizens
Right-to-work checks continue in the same way as now until 30 June 2021 for citizens of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. You will not need to make retrospective checks for existing employees.

Employment Law Changes April 2020
Holiday pay, determining an average week’s pay will increase from 12 weeks to 52 weeks, or if the worker has been employed for less than 52 weeks, the number of complete weeks for which the worker has been engaged. Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act on 13 September 2018, will also be introduced. Also, there will be an increase in statutory sick pay (SSP) rate with an increase to tribunal compensation rates also.
New Employees Lawful requirement April 2020
From 6 April 2020, all new employees and workers will have the right to a statement of written particulars from their first day of employment. You must not proceed with an employee if you do not have one in place.
